Pension Schemes – The Academy offers excellent pension packages for both Teaching and Support Staff. Both the Teaching and Support Staff (Local Government) pensions include life assurance benefits, voluntary early retirement benefits, ill health benefits and a range of other benefits.

Long Service Award Scheme – The School provides recognition of long service in the form of a cash incentive (voucher payment for 25 years’ service).
Car Parking Facilities – Employees enjoy the benefits of free car parking within our site.
Support Staff Annual Leave – The annual leave year for all school based support staff runs from 1 September to 31 August inclusive. If a member of the support staff commences employment part way through a leave year their annual leave entitlement will be calculated from their first day of employment up to and including the 31 August (the end of the leave year).
Term Time Only Working – The calculation for the payment of staff working term time only or annualised hours will be applied for support staff within the School.
In order to comply with legislation, which requires that part time employees are treated no less favourably than full time employees, a calculation has been agreed with the trade unions. This calculation is to be used to pro-rata the salaries of all term time only/annualised hours support staff (excluding nursery nurses) in order to properly proportion holiday entitlement to weeks worked. The annual leave allowance is then paid proportionally throughout the year in the employees’ salary.
Maternity/Paternity/Shared Paternity Leave – The Newbrige School operates a generous scheme that allows time off for each of the above. The Academy operates a Keep in Touch scheme, Maternity returnees are also encouraged to consider applying for flexible working if appropriate.
Leave of Absence – We understand employees have a life outside work and in some instances there maybe a family emergency. The School realise the importance of striking a work life balance and actively seeks wherever possible, to offer hours and patterns of work that suit your personal circumstances. The School recognises that domestic and family commitments and responsibilities can hinder your ability to fulfill your work responsibilities. Practical help is available in the form of paid special leave e.g. Leave of Absence.
Flexible Retirement Scheme – Staff approaching retirement age have the option to take up flexible working patterns/flexible retirement and are encouraged and supported. This is why we are actively questioning the notion of the perceived retirement ages and encouraging staff and managers alike to consider alternatives to retirement. These include reducing workloads, reducing hours, moving into part time work in a way that doesn’t reduce pension benefits.
Education, Training and Development – The Newbrige School is committed to providing education and training where specific needs are identified. No matter where you start, you’ll have access to further training and the opportunity to stretch your abilities and advance your career.
NQTs – Our preferred supplier, Forest Way Teaching School Alliance is accredited as an APPROPRIATE BODY for the professional induction of NQTs.
The programme supports NQTs in developing the skills to be effective teachers and monitors their progress against the Teacher Standards. Led by high calibre senior leaders with a proven track record of excellent NQT development and support. The programme includes a full day’s conference early in September to get the year off to a flying start.
The ACE Partnership – The ACE Partnership is a loose grouping of six secondary schools in the Ashby and Coalville area. It was the perfect vehicle to create a new curriculum and assessment system with built-in accountability and a high expectation of progress for our students in the local area. On the back of this, it also creates a wider network of professional colleagues that allows collaborative work and generates a culture of sharing great working practices with a wealth of skills and experience.
IT Services & Resources – The Academy has a dedicated IT Support Teams who are on hand to assist with IT relate queries.
Trade Union – There are a number of Unions recognised by the Academy for both Teaching and Support Staff including NASWUT and UNISON. Unions negotiate on pay and terms and conditions nationally on behalf of their members.
Health & Well-being:
Promoting Equality and Diversity – There is no place for discrimination at Newbridge on the grounds of race, ethnicity, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age or working patterns. Positive efforts are made to recruit staff from the many diverse sections of society, and to ensure that all staff are treated fairly.
Support Services – Staff can contact the Occupational Health Department for advice and support. The School also offers a free counselling service to all staff. This service is completely confidential and discrete.
Flu Vaccinations – On an annual basis, staff are asked if they would like a voucher that will provide them with a free of charge flu vaccination.
Sick Pay – All staff are entitled to sick pay. The ranges vary depending on role and length of service.
Improving Working Lives – The Academy is committed to improving the working lives of staff in a variety of other ways including, promoting equality and diversity, providing a healthy working environment, providing training and development opportunities, protecting staff from violence and aggression and ensuring that staff at all levels feel part of the team by means of excellent communication links.
KiddiVouchers (Childcare Salary Sacrifice Scheme) – The government has confirmed that the implementation of Tax-Free Childcare has been delayed until early 2017, due to the legal challenge to the appointment of NS&I to deliver the scheme. They have stated they are committed to implementing Tax-Free Childcare and will release exact roll-out dates in due course.
The current childcare voucher scheme (KiddiVouchers) will remain open to new entrants until Tax-Free Childcare is launched. Parents who wish to remain in a childcare voucher scheme once Tax-Free Childcare is launched will be able to do so, as long as their current employer continues to offer a childcare voucher scheme. Leisure Centre Membership – The Newbrige School staff are entitled to discounted membership rates at NWLDC Leisure Complexes (Hermitage Leisure Centre and Hood Park). When applying for membership, you will need to present your Staff ID badge and or your most recent salary payslip statement.
Friday Extra Curricular PE – Sign up for organised staff extra-curricular activities that are often PE related team sports, such as a badminton doubles tournaments, netball, basketball, bench ball, football etc.
