All subject areas identify gifted and talented pupils in their own areas. Curriculum Leaders monitor their progress and ensure that specialist provision is in place for them.
This involves extension work, tasks with a deeper or broader requirement and individual mentoring. Published and adapted materials, as well as varied strategies, are used to stretch and motivate pupils.
Master classes, teams and practices are available in some subject areas.
A record that identifies gifted and talented pupils in the different subject areas is shared across all departments for all teachers to know pupils’ potential, and pupils are recommended from this list for special opportunities for booster workshops etc.
A group of most able pupils is identified early in Year 7 and they work with a senior teacher, meeting regularly over the three years. Parents are kept informed. Special opportunities such as visits to University are made available.
